Best & Worst of SXSW
Some buzz about Mount Kimbie, who I saw at the Decibel festival this year - they were pretty good. I didn’t know they were friends with James Blake, but that kinda makes sense. Their music is calm and ambient yet beautiful and plaintive.
Duran Duran: Will New Album Reboot Career?
Yes, that is the question! Their last album (that I know of) which included such tracks as, “Reach up for the sunrise” was a little light on lyrical content and sugary on musical content. They’re going to be at Coachella this year and they’re tier 2 on my list. Maybe I’ll see them, unless there’s a tier 1 band that’s playing at the same time. Maybe I’ll try to hear part of their set because I want to hear Come Undone, Notorious and View to a Kill. But if good bands from the 80s are coming back to Coachella, I’d sooo much rather hear Tears for Fears!
